When it comes to making brown rice, only a few people seem to get the recipe right. For the rest of us, it turns into either a sticky porridge or remains undercooked. No doubt brown rice is hard to cook but it is such a healthier option than the regular white rice. The health benefits of brown rice continue with its fiber, which has been shown to reduce high cholesterol levels, and keep blood sugar levels under control.

 

So we did our research and tried a few different recipes to get the texture right.

Here is what worked for us.

(We tried without the salt but you should be able to add salt if you wish.)

 

Bloom Recipe for Fluffy Brown Rice

INGREDIENTS

1 cup Organic Bazaar Brown Basmati Rice
2 1⁄4 cups Water

DIRECTION

Bring 2 1⁄4 cups water to a boil.
Once water is boiling, add 1 cup brown rice.
Cover, and reduce to simmer.
Simmer for 45 minutes, without opening the pot.
After 45 minutes, turn off heat and let it sit for 15 minutes.
(Note: Do not open pot until 15 minutes are over.)
Open pot and fluff the rice.
