Bloom Organic rice poha - 1.5 cup
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
peanuts- 2 to 2.5 tbsp
oil - 2 to 2.5 tbsp
mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
1 chopped medium-size potato
finely chopped onions β β
cup
8 to 9 curry leaves
fresh grated coconut β 1 tbsp (optional)
chopped coriander leaves β 2 to 2.5 tbsp
lemon juice - 1 tsp salt to taste
Preparation
- Rinse the poha flakes in clean running water in a strainer or colander twice or thrice. Note: Be sure that you do not rinse the poha flakes too much or else they break and get mushy. While rinsing, the poha flakes absorb enough water and they become soft.
- After rinsing, the poha flakes should lose their crunchiness and when you break them between your fingers, they should easily get crushed or mashed.
- In a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds to the hot oil.
- When the poha has softened nicely, sprinkle the turmeric powder and salt evenly on the poha.Β
- Gently mix with a spoon or with clean fingers.
- Peel the potatoes and chop them into small cubes.
- When the mustard seeds splutter, add the cumin seeds.
- When the cumin seeds crackle, add potato and saute.Β
- Next Add onions. SautΓ© the onions till they become translucent and soften.
- Now add the curry leaves and roasted peanuts. SautΓ© for a minute on low heat.
- Add the fried potatoes and then the rinsed poha. Mix gently with the rest of the sautΓ©ed ingredients.
- Cover the pan tightly with a lid for the poha to get steamed for about 2 minutes on low heat.
- Remove the lid and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated fresh coconut and lemon juice.
- Serve the poha hot.Β You can add chopped green chilies to add spiciness to the dish.
