Savor the rich blend of flavors in Sprouted Channa Rice, a delightful combination of organic Basmati rice and organic Kabuli Channa. This nourishing recipe offers a heartwarming mix of spices and textures, perfect for any meal.

๐—œ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€:

  • Bloom Organic Sprouted Kala Chana - 1/2 cup
  • Bloom Organicย Cooked Basmati Rice - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Onion - 1 small size chopped
  • Salt to taste

PREPPING THE CHANNA

  • Begin by soaking the chana (chickpeas) in water overnight to soften them. This is crucial for activating the germination process.
  • The next morning, drain the water and place the chana in a damp cloth or a sprouting jar in a dark, warm place. Allow them to sprout for about 24-48 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity. Youโ€™ll notice small tails emerging from the chana, indicating they are sprouted.
  • Once sprouted, soak the chana in hot water for 30 minutes to soften them further. This step ensures they are tender and cook evenly. After soaking, drain the water thoroughly.

COOKING:

  • Heat a medium-sized pan and add ghee to it. Allow the ghee to melt and get hot.
  • To the hot ghee, add whole spices such as cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, and bay leaves. Sautรฉ these spices for about a minute until they start to crackle and release their aromatic oils, enhancing the flavor base of the dish.
  • Next, add finely chopped onions to the pan. Sautรฉ the onions on medium heat until they turn golden brown, which usually takes about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure they cook evenly and donโ€™t burn.
  • Add the sprouted chana to the pan with the onions and sautรฉ for a few minutes. The goal is to integrate the chana with the flavors of the spices and onions.
  • Season the mixture with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Mix well to ensure even seasoning.
  • Now, gently fold in the pre-cooked rice (preferably Basmati for its fragrance and texture). Toss everything together carefully to avoid breaking the rice grains. The rice should get well-coated with the spices and mix uniformly with the chana.
  • Continue to sautรฉ the mixture for another couple of minutes. This step helps to heat the rice through and allows the flavors to meld together.

SERVING:

  • Once everything is heated through and well mixed, transfer the chana rice to a serving dish.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro or parsley if desired. Optionally, a squeeze of lemon juice can be added to enhance the flavors just before serving.

This dish makes a nourishing main course or a hearty side dish, perfect for a wholesome meal. It pairs beautifully with yogurt, salad, or your choice of raita.

Bon appรฉtit!
