Coconut oil is solid at room temperature and has a very high smoke point of 171°C degrees which makes it ideal for any type of cooking and a healthy alternative to many cooking and frying oils. Try using coconut oil to help your pancakes from sticking to the pan, you’ll be surprised by the subtle coconut twist. For baking, we recommend using coconut oil in its solid-state, just as you would for butter or shortening or you can use it at room temperature with other ingredients to avoid clumps. Its melting point is 24°C degrees, which means it can be melted safely using a microwave or over a stovetop. Try adding ½ teaspoon of melted coconut oil to your morning strawberry and oat yogurt parfait to benefit from the boost of nutrients and flavour. Or you can use it to fry an egg, create a complex stir-fry, embolden your traditional sauces, salad dressing or dips and even drizzle over popcorn.
DID YOU KNOW?
Coconut oil can be used as a skin moisturizer because it increases hydration and prevents water loss in the skin. Simply rub the oil between your fingertips then on your face or body, like you would any other moisturizer. You can even use it as a natural make-up remover that will also hydrate the sensitive under-eye region.
